Uniform Sashes
Some regiments employ military sashes that are worn across the waist or over the shoulders. Sashes have been used over many different ranks of military clothing in both the British and Scottish armies since the 18th century. Officers were required to wear crimson silk sashes during the American Civil War, whereas non-commissioned officers wore red woolen sashes.
