The Lieutenant General’s sash is a piece of 409 centimeters in length made of red two-needle knitting, and contains two fundamental elements in this type of equipment, such as pins and tassels. In this case there are three embroidered pins on each side where embroidered threads and beads are interspersed, and this is what indicates that whoever wore it had the rank of Lieutenant General. On the tassels you can see a kind of oval cartouche with the number thirteen in Roman “XIII”, merging with a letter “A”, which indicates that the soldier who donated the sash to the Virgin was from the brigade of Alfonso XIII. On the other side there is another oval cartouche in which a laurel wreath can be seen and inside it a saber and a baton are crossed.
